Happybox :: Skateboarding & Whatnot

Vampires in a Prius.

On my way to the Apple store in an hour-and-a-half. If the Macbook can be saved, we’ve got so much fresh footage you might go blind.

As you might have surmised, we have some more golden oldies for you. This clip is stupid, vulgar, embarrassing, and probably why you don’t have more footage from us. Some of the names have been omitted to protect the innocent, but this is what happens when we try to film tricks. Throw on some headphones if your baby sister is in the room.

I’ll make up for it with real footage on the next post. Pray for my computer.

See you soon,
Reno

The Frontlines and the Hard Drive.

This is hard to do without a computer or a car.

Got enough time on a borrowed computer to deliver some old hard drive footage that was unjustly collecting digital dust. The first clip is Cody and the rest are Kev. We’d say something witty but we wouldn’t want you to scroll past tons of text before you got to what you came for.

A couple rainy weekends in a row and the inability to connect my camera to a computer are stopping you from getting brand new footage but it’s stacking. Still filming for Box, still filming for the full-length, don’t let the Man tell you otherwise. More hard drive
videos for your eyes in a few days.

Pushing onwards,
Reno

The Rain Is A Pain And That’s The Truth.

Despite the back-in-action attitude, we’re still facing serious setbacks here at BappyHox and now that God has seen it fit to throw rain on our film weekend, things are looking extra bleak without the promise of fresh footage. Fortunately, one of our number, a brilliant filmer/editor who will remain nameless, stored footage away for just such an occassion.

You’ll probably remember this hardflip from the PromoTage, or at least this spot. Matt landed his trick three times before he was happy with it. I filmed the first two and Kev filmed the last one when I had to leave for work. We had a hard time deciding which trick/angle combo looked the best and landed on the last one. Here are all three so you can form your own inferior opinion.

If you’re Box4Lyf, bro, you’ll know that Matt has been out with a broken, infected, and arthritic ankle for the past eight months. He started physical therapy and appears to be on the final leg (it’s a turn of phrase, sue me) of the road to recovery. A few short months and maybe we’ll see some fresh Matt footage again.

The Happybox revival continues, rain and technology be damned. New site coming soon, new post coming sooner.

Stay tuned,
Reno

Brownie Points.

So my computer broke, my car broke, I went on vacation, my camera started fucking up, and a handful of other excuses but, by God, we’re back! Rejoice!

You may be wondering if we lied when we said the new design would be up today. Various mind-expanding substances and careful inspection with a magnifying glass will reveal that this might be a new site, albeit a subtle one, however, there’s a fresh clip below to sate your hungry mouths and the actual new design will be up in a few short days. The video below is actually made up of three ancient Kevo clips that didn’t make the PromoTage. He probably had about two minutes of footage on his own that we had to whittle down to seven or eight tricks. There’s a ton more, so stay posted because we’ll drag a few more out of the harddrive.

The gears are a bit rusty and we’re not quite back to full-steam yet but expect a post in two or three days because we’re filming again, dammit, and you’re gonna watch us do all that board flippy shit.

Yee,
Reno.

Happybox Will Return in the Year of the Tiger.

New design, new footage, new Box.

See you on February 14th.

All hands on deck,
Reno

Off To A Rough Start.

So we have a problem over here in Boxtown. As of two days ago, my computer decided life was no longer worth the struggle and put a digital gun in its digital mouth. It’s most likely a harddrive issue, and while I have most of our important footage already on my external harddrive, all of our throwaway just sits on the computer. I’ll be hitting the Apple Store shortly and, if all goes well, I’ll be posting again soon.

In my infinite wisdom, I had the foresight to upload some footage the other day to hold you guys over. This is Cody Rosecrans and if you’re local, you know the level he’s on. A cab and a switch back180 for funziez:

Next post title: The Little MacBook That Could.

Cross your fingers,
Reno

D-Vargs.

Daniel Vargas just picked up a fancy new nickname; spread the word.

Little bit of footage I shot of Vargas last weekend. We spent a day at Channel where I filmed him in between Shane getting tricks (not sure if Shane’s footage is going to the Welcome site but you were going to check it everyday anyways, right?), and I spent another day with him at some random school in the middle of nowhere.

In other news, Matt has a shoe on his right foot for the first time in a long time— actually, it’s about 2:50am right now, so he probably isn’t wearing shoes, but what we’re trying to say is Matt got his cast off and he’ll be starting physical therapy soon.

Stay safe on New Year’s Eve because we’ve got a ton of footage sitting in the harddrive and it’s imperative that you watch it.

Stay tuned,
Reno

If Man Is Five, Then The Devil is Six.

Feeling really, really good about the new year. Really good. We have a site redesign coming some time in January, a trip to Arizona coming up in the next few months (which also means a new montage), a ton of leftover Promotage footage that will be uploading as fast as possible, a good chance that Matt will be back on a skateboard in a couple months, more video posts, more adverts, and maybe (just maybe) the full-length Box video coming towards the end of the year.

You’d better start getting excited now otherwise it’s just going to destroy you in a great colorful explosion of awesome.

Aaaaaanyways, mandatory video post. Today, we’ve got Shane and while we don’t list him as one of our own on the Family page (he’s got obligations to various legitimate skateboarding companies), he’s a pretty magical dude. When get the chance to film him, he usually keeps the best footage for the aforementioned obligations, but the leftovers that we compiled for the montage were more than spectacular. Here’s a little bit more that we filmed but didn’t make the time restraints for the montage:

The Happybox holiday is over, we’re back to dropping clips every few days. I have some pretty rad Daniel Vargas footy I’ll drop on here in two days time, right before the New Year.

See you in no time,
Reno

Kev and Me.

Now we get to do all sorts of Bonus DVD type shit. Get psyched.

So Kev’s first line in the montage got landed twice. If you come to Box a lot, two things should stick out at you: Kev is good and I suck. I don’t know what the fuck I was thinking here but when Kev landed his first line, I some how forgot my filmer board and tried to run behind him. (Also, easter egg bonus dvd type shit: Watch for Cody and Enzo dancing in the background when he ollies up that 3 stair gap):

Fuck me, right?

However, when Kev’s doing the filming, he’s not much better. A lot of times, when he hands me a tape to capture and edit, I’ll just watch the whole thing without skipping to the marked hammers. I’ve found impromptu songs, mini interviews, and short hateful monologues like this:

So yeah, more montage afterbirth coming soon. (Gross.) Also, I feel like there’s something profound to be said about peacing out on this shitty year and kicking off the fresh one with high hopes, but this post is already a bit wordy. I’ll just tell you next time.

Have a Merry Christmas,
Reno

Subtitle: HappyBox & Company.

I strive to be a man of my word. And if I must lie, I only lie by seventeen hours.

I tried, guys. I logged some late night hours but I couldn’t get it done until this morning. Either way, the newest HappyBox montage is up on the main page and I’m sure all of you watched it before you read anything I had to say.

If you lurk Box outrageous, you probably have seen at least a few of those clips before, but it’s pretty much a collection of our favorite clips since we started filming for the video in December ‘08. There was a lot of footage that wouldn’t fit and a few of the guys didn’t have quite enough footy but rest assured this is only a tiny slice of the colorful goodness that we’ve been stacking for the video.

I feel like I should say more but, honestly, I’d rather just go back to bed. Watch the video again for me. It was a pleasure to skate in it, film for it, edit it, and I hope any of the fun that we had in the last year comes across in the video.

Goodnight,
Reno
